Le 975 is a cozy little bistrot downhill from the north side of Montmartre, near the border between the 17th and 18th arrondissements. It is a neighborhood were non-Parisians don’t often go, but this delightful restaurant run by chef Taïki Tamao is reason enough to go out there.
The interior is light and airy and I seemed to be the only non-local at lunch the day I was there.
The lunch formule or menu is a bargain 23€:
The carte for those who don’t wish the menu:
The wine list is all natural wines at modest prices. They are good wines, but it is different from the list the last time I was at the restaurant, in October 2019 (which was in a different, but nearby, location). Then, the list had more traditional producers and was of outstanding quality.
I chose the formule, beginning with a delicious cream of pumpkin soup with spices and a ginger crumble that added to the interest:
The dark bread presented with it was also notable:
For my main course, I took the pork loin with a celery root purée and crisp vegetables of the season:
This dish, too, was delicious and perfectly cooked. With it I took a glass of Bourgogne rouge 2022 from Domaine de Thale which went very well with the dish.
For my last course, I took the a generous portion of Cantal cheese with a crisp salad and a glass of Bourgogne Côtes Salines blanc 2022 from Guéguen:
After an expresso, the bill (which as always in France include tax and a 15% service charge) was very moderate, even more so given the excellent quality of the ingredients and preparation:
Le 975 provides very good food at modest prices, creating a quality-price ratio that is hard to match. The trip out to this little-explored part of town will be worth your while.
