This is yet another estate where a new generation has been taking over, and one where there is no slippage from one generation to the next. My visit was with Lucie Teillaud Mugneret.
In overall quantity, 2022 compared to 2018. Harvesting began on 1 September. Except for a small amount of whole clusters in the Echézeaux, there was no none in the wines. Alcohols ranged from 12.5º to 13.5º; there was just a small amount of chaptalization to prolong the fermentations.
These are marvelous wines from top to bottom, showing the greatness of the vintage from top producers.
2022 Bourgogne
This wine shows dark fruits and is pure, elegant, long, ethereal, and airy. A great Bourgogne rouge. 13º alcohol. (90-92)
2022 Vosne-Romanée
The Vosne is denser, pure, deep, and harmonious with red fruits. It is airy and long. 13.2º alcohol. (91-94)
2022 Vosne-Romanée La Colombière
As outstanding as the regular Vosne is, the Colombière is even better. The nose is spicier, and the mouth is airy with pure red fruits, and great finesse and silkiness. The vines here date to 1933. (92-95)
2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots
The Nuits-Chaignots has Vosne-like spices (not surprising, given the location on the Vosne slope of Nuits). The wine is pure, silky, and long with red fruits. The vines here are 60-70 years old. (93-95)
2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes
The Chambolle-Feusselottes is pure and harmonious with good concentration and length, red fruits. This wine is lovely now and will improve for quite some time. (94-96)
2022 Echézeaux
The Echézeaux is very elegant and pure with a smooth texture, and lenght in the mouth. (94-97)
2022 Ruchottes-Chambertin
Mugneret-Gibourg’s Ruchottes-Chambertin has a stony, nervous nose with some spice — very typical. The mouth is lighter than that of the Chambolle, nervous, pure and shows great precision to its red fruits plus airiness. (95-97)
2022 Clos Vougeot
Mugneret-Gibourg’s Clos Vougeot has an excellent site, just below the château. The vines date to 1955. The is wine shows darker fruit in the nose and it is very pure. The mouth is airy with the most density of all the wine tasted here. It is deep, intense, and superb! (96-98)
