This set of Heymann-Löwenstein’s wines was one of the biggest disappointments of the Wiesbaden preview. Several of these wines had not yet been bottled, suggesting also the possibility that bottling for the others had only been recent, and so maybe there is hope that those wines did not show typically. However, these wines serve as a reminder that conditions were difficult in 2023 and one had to move very fast to harvest at the right moment.
2023 (Hatzenport) Kirchberg Riesling GG
Floral, white peach aromas. Light in mouth, perhaps just a touch of sweetness, no great depth, muddled fruit. Disappointing. 84/F

A bit more body, but still not showing precision or depth. 84/F
2023 Uhlen Blaufüsser Lay Riesling GG
Honeyed nose. Medium-weight, more body here, more depth. Fruit is tending toward nectarine. Barrel sample. (87-90)
2023 Uhlen Laubach Riesling GG
Peach skin nose. Medium-weight, peach skin fruit, a bit shy. Barrel sample. (88-90)
2023 Uhlen Roth Lay Riesling GG
