Here we begin to see some of the unevenness of the vintage in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer.
von HÖVEL
2023 (Kanzem) Hörecker Riesling GG
Stony nose. Light on palate, some acidity but not real grip, stony flavors. 91/A-
2023 Scharzhofberger Riesling GG
Somewhat loose in body, no great precision or focus. Standard Saar Riesling, I regret to say. 87/C+
van VOLXEM
2023 (Kanzem) Altenberg Riesling GG
Stony aromas. Medium weight, good concentration, but without the full acidic backbone. A good wine, but not the greatness that Altenberg can achieve. 92/A
2023 (Wawern) Goldberg Riesling GG
Slightly herbal (thyme) stony nose. Medium-light body, some acidity but not really crackling. Some stoniness. 90/B+
2023 (Wiltingen) Gottesfuss Riesling GG
Stony aromas. Stony in mouth, but without real structure — rather loose here. 89/B
2023 Scharzhofberger Riesling GG
Stony nose. Medium-weight, enough acidity to give some structure, stony flavors. Very promising. 92/A
2023 Scharzhofberger Pergentsknopp Riesling GG
Softer than the regular Scharzhofberger, less stony. 90/B+
2023 (Wiltingen) Volz Riesling GG
Floral nose. Some softness, some minerality, but not fully coming together. 88/B-
