2023 Mittelrhein Riesling GG from Feuerlay, Im Hahn, Mandelstein, St. Jost, and Wolfshöhle

One doesn’t often come across Mittelrhein wines, and the reputation is not at the level of some other German wine regions. Nevertheless, there are producers there making wines that deserve international interest.

Spiced apricot, medium-weight body, a little shy but very enjoyable. 92/A

2023 (Boppard) Feuerlay Riesling GG
Light in weight, apply fruit, needs time. 90(+)/B+

2023 (Boppard) Mandelstein Riesling GG
Some hazelnut in nose. Medium-light body, Lightly fruity but only hints of peach. 88+/B-

RATZENBERGE

2023 (Bacharach) St. Jost Riesling GG
Closed nose. Some apple in mouth, but needs time to develop. Medium-weight, sufficient acidity. 90+/B+

2023 (Bacharach) Wofshöhle Riesling GG
Quince aromas and flavors, medium-weight, very enjoyable already. 92/A
