2022 Rheinhessen Riesling GG Part II -- Heerkretz, Hipping, Höllberg, Öllberg, Rothenberg from Bischel, Gunderloch, Kühling-Gillot, Rappenhof, and Wagner-Stempel
Good results from Siefersheim, but then moving down to the Roter Hang (Nackenheim and Nierstein), the results are much more mixed, clearly reflecting difficult conditions.
BISCHEL
2022 (Siefersheim) Heeerkretz Riesling GG
A bit juicier than Wagner-Stempel’s below, round, medium-weight, but lacks depth, precision of a still better wine. 90/B+
GUNDERLOCH
2022 (Nackenheim) Rothenberg Riesling GG
A bit glossy, but ultimately lacking grip on the palate. Plum and other fruits. 88/B-
2022 (Niersting) Hipping Riesling GG
Perfumed nose. Light on plate, rather dumb at the moment, needs time to develop. 89(+)/B
KÜHLING-GILLOT
2022 (Nackenheim) Rothenberg Riesling GG
Lacking grip, medium-light, blah. 86/D
2022 (Nierstein) Ölberg Riesling GG
Some plum fruit, but a bit washed out. 88/B-
2022 (Nierstein) Ölberg Riesling GG
Mineral, dark plum flavors, light body, some persistence. 91/A-
RAPPENHOF
2022 (Nierstein) Ölberg Riesling GG
Some minimality, medium-weight, round, moderate acidity. 90/B+
WAGNER-STEMPEL
2022 (Siefersheim) Heeerkretz Riesling GG
Pure structured, nobly austere, long — a classic wine. 94/A
2022 (Siefersheim) Höllberg Riesling GG
Structured, pure, some crystallinity, very clear. 93/A
