Although wines from this sector of the Rheingau generally were excellent, too, there were a couple of disappointments; notably, Peter-Jakob Kühn’s wines, which usually are among my favorites in the Rheingau, and Spreitzer’s Sankt Nikolaus, also usually of top quality (as were the other Spreitzer wines presented).

Closed nose. Clear, good acidity and freshness, nervy, steely. 93/A
2023 (Hallgarten) Schönhell Riesling GG
Medium-light, fresh, but not as energetic or as nervy as other Prinz wines. Some yellow fruit. 91+/A-

Some honey in nose. Honey, medium-weight but without the necessary acidity it comes across as heavy. 86?/C
