2021 and 2022 Württemberg Riesling GG Part I-- Altenberg, Götzenberg, Herzogenberg, Lämmler, Pulvermacher from Aldinger, Beurer, Ellwanger, Haidle, Schnaitmann, and Wöhrwag

I debated whether to publish these notes, as I think the wines are consumed mostly in Stuttgart, Württemberg’s largest city, and the surrounding area. Nevertheless, I do occasionally come across some producers from the region.

ALDINGER

2021 (Stetten) Pulvermacher    Riesling GG 

Big wine, powerful, but with some elegance. Clear, but not that much flavor coming through. 87+?/C

BEURER

2021 (Stetten) Pulvermacher - Berge    Riesling GG 

Butter, lime in nose. Round in mouth, some citric. Still needs time. 88(+)/B-

Jürgen ELLWANGER

2022 (Schnait) Altenberg    Riesling GG 

Lime, spice, medium-weight, clear. 90/B+

Karl HAIDLE

2021 (Stetten) Pulvermacher    Riesling GG 

Floral, lime blossom nose. Light lime on the palate. Needs time, still, but there is promise. 89(+)/B 

Rainer SCHNAITMANN

2021 (Uhlbach) Götzenberg     Riesling GG 

Spicy, elegant, some power. Still closed. 88(+)/B-

2021 (Fellbach) Lämmler    Riesling GG 

Spicy, clear, acidic bite, needs time to open. 88(+)/B-

WÖHRWAG

2022 (Untertürkheim) Herzogenberg    Riesling GG 

Medium-weight, dense and concentrated, spicy, clear fruit, just off-dry. 88/B-
