2021 and 2022 Pfalz Riesling GG Part V --Jesuitengarten and Kirchenstück from Acham-Magin, Bassermann-Jordan, Buhl, Mosbacher, and Winning
Kirchenstück is for me the greatest Riesling vineyard in the Pfalz, if not all of Germany. But just as Romanée-Conti is not always the greatest wine of a given vintage in Burgundy, so that is not always the case with Kirchenstück. But there is high quality, nonetheless.
As for Jesuitengarten, it is a strong competitor for runner-up in the crowded field of Forst vineyards.
Reichsrat von BUHL
2021 (Forst) Jesuitengarten Riesling GG
A round, airy wine that seems to float in a cloud with pure peach fruit of very good length. 94/A
2021 (Forst) Kirchenstück Riesling GG
Some nutshell aromas. Taut, nervy, tension, white fruits, penetration — completely different from the 2022’s below in style. 93/A
ACHAM-MAGIN
2022 (Forst) Kirchenstück Riesling GG
Concentrated but light on the palate, citrus blossom hints, smooth, elegant, complete. 93/A
Dr. von BASSERMANN-JORDAN
2022 (Forst) Jesuitengarten Riesling GG
Floral, a very slight hint of honey, orange blossom in nose. Round, honeyed orange fruit, good length, but perhaps not the structure for long aging. 92/A
2022 (Forst) Kirchenstück Riesling GG
Spicy, perfumed nose, excellent length, some layering, floral and citric flavors. 93/A
Georg MOSBACHER
2022 (Forst) Jesuitengarten Riesling GG
Orange and peach in medium-body, approachable now. Elegant, with excellent length and differentiation. 93(+)/A
von WINNING
2022 (Forst) Kirchenstück Riesling GG
This barrel sample is spicy with some vanilla overtones, good acidity, medium-light some penetration, overall completeness. (91-94)
